Honda – Assembly Line Control System

, ,

The Problem
Honda, maker of award-winning Honda/Acura automobiles, motorcycles, and ATVs, seems to always be on a path of self-improvement. Honda management recognized that improvements could be made through increased plant reliability and in the reduction of number of manual processes.

This was mission-critical as Honda was not shy in sharing the huge dollar figure lost for every minute the assembly line is down. Our software solutions had to be flawless in every regard.

The Solution
Honda embarked on the NGLC (Next Generation assembly Line Control system). How did we help?

Designed and wrote low-level components of assembly line control system. These intelligent components ‘sensed’ and controlled the physical assembly line environment through Sensors and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Wrote Windows Service for automated archiving and cleanup of the VIN tracking database (a requirement handed down by the NHTSA).

Provided Honda staff engineers with help on project implementation methods and details.
